Privacy, In Plain English

TextWriter does not send your writing anywhere. The app works offline, stores ordinary files on your computer, and has no account system, telemetry, advertising, or cloud service.
The Desktop App
TextWriter opens and saves the files you choose. Settings and
recovery data stay on your device. Timestamped backups stay beside
your document in a hidden .textwriter-backups folder.
The app does not contain analytics or network reporting code.
This Website
The TextWriter website does not run an analytics service and does not set its own tracking cookies. It is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub states that it logs and stores visitor IP addresses for security purposes; that processing is governed by the GitHub Privacy Statement.
The Optional Mailing List
If you enter an email address into a signup form, your browser sends it directly to Kit so Kit can deliver the confirmation and future messages. The list is used for occasional TextWriter updates, other tools, and news about Matti Yott's books. Signup is optional, confirmation is required, and every message includes an unsubscribe link.
Kit processes subscriber information for the mailing-list service. You can read the Kit Privacy Policy and Kit's GDPR information.
Downloads, Source Code, and Support
Download and source-code links lead to GitHub. The support link leads to Buy Me a Coffee. Those services process visits and transactions under their own policies. TextWriter never receives your payment details.
Questions or Removal Requests
